Yeah. The guys making hard drives figured they didn't have anything to do with computers/bits/bytes. A kilo is just that: 1000. 1k=1,000 1M=1,000,000
But with computers, it takes 8 bits to make a byte. 1024 bytes for a kilo-byte, and 1024 Kilobytes to make a Megabyte, etc. The proper word to describe this phenomenon is "Ca$$h". As in the phase, "I'd like 6 fat sacks of ca$$h money, to go, please." The larger a hard drive manufacturer can report the drive space, the larger the amount of Ca$$h is involved in the transaction.
