Hard drive appearing then disappearing

So I got a new hard drive, not a back up, and put it in my computer, installed Windows then turned it off and on. That's when my PC didn't detect my hdd and just left me to the boot menu where I can only pick my disk drive. Any suggestions?

Double-check the cables are in good, and if that doesn't work, use a different SATA cable to connect it to a different port on your motherboard. Also use a different power connector on your PSU. Just to be sure that none of the connectors are burnt out and causing the issue.

If none of that fixes it, the drive is most likely dead.

I have an old hard drive that doesn't work but I connected it and my PC detected that I don't think it is the cables but i don't know

It probably is the drive, I'm just being thorough.

It's a new drive, is there anything I can do?

Return it for a replacement. If it is new, it should certainly be covered under warranty.
