Hi all,

Couple days ago, I was sleeping when I smelled a burnt smell in my room. I had just finished a long day at work and was half asleep so I didn't even really pay attention to it. Anyways, so today I noticed my desktop's second HDD was missing on my computer and I opened my case up to investigate. Inside, i found that the power cable at the end that's connected to my HDD was completely fried. My computer still runs fine, it had been on for 2 days since the burnt smell and i didn't even notice that this had happened until I noticed the missing HDD. At this point it looks like the HDD may still be in tact, and might still work if I connect new cables to it (I don't have any extras at the moment). I have high hopes since I've heard stories of Western Digital hard drives surviving fires haha. I guess my question is how and why this could've happened and if I should think about swapping out any other parts such as a new PSU? The set up was the same setup from 4 years ago with heavy computer usage (almost on 24/7). The cables could've been generic connectland cables I bought from amazon (I can't remember if I had used the generic cables on my SSD or my HDD) and my PSU is the Corsair HX1050 (silver certified) and my HDD is WesternDigital Black WD1002FAEX. Please see URL below for a picture of the cable, and thanks in advance for reading and helping out!
