My hard drive caught on fire recently. There was another problem that led up to this. I'll try to keep this short: First problem was that, without warning, my computer would not power on anymore. I turned it off one afternoon and it would not turn on at all afterwards. I made several attempts to repair it, but made no progress. I took it to a local repair shop and they were unable to power it back on. They did find minor burn damage on the RAM and recommended that I replace the motherboard. I installed a new board and the hard drive caught on fire as soon as I turned the computer on. I was wondering if the people here could tell me the best way to proceed from here. At this point, I suspect that the power supply may be faulty.

HDD: Western Digital SATA 3 3TB

Motherboard 1: MSI Z170 Gaming

Motherboard 2: MSI Z270 XPower Gaming Titanium

PSU: Thermaltake 850W

Solution
Hard drive gets power directly from PSU, so motherboard does not have anything to do with that fire. All points towards faulty PSU. Note that your new motherboard might get damaged too in this incident.
Well, since it's not the motherboard, the only culprit is the PSU. Although, I don't know how a faulty PSU would burn your RAM sticks, without destroying the motherboard. Model name of PSU please.
EDIT: Hard drive might be saveable, just need to order the right PCB. Contact WD and send them the PCB number, it's probably that QR code.
EDIT2: Looks like the cache burned, by the pictures I found.

EDIT3: Not sure it's the same PCB.

New answers so I don't confuse anybody.

Here's what's burnt: SMOOTH L7251, I think it's what drives the Spindle Motor(rotates the disk).

Here's where to find the PCB number, and search google with that number for replacements.
