Hard drive causes PC to crash

I have recently built my girlfriend a pc. The specs are below.
AMD FX-4300
GTX 760
500W EVGA PSU
8Gb RAM
1 TB
The computer is nothing serious for performance, trust me I'm well aware. However, when trying to install windows onto the drive (from USB) it just crashes the whole PC. I tried putting the drive in my personal PC to install it on a different system however the same issue persists.

It shows up perfectly fine. yes

creepercrushersss, in which part of the installation does it crash? Does it give an error? Has the drive been formatted? Is it new or used? Have you tried another USB?

It crashes as soon as it begins the install. No error, just computer fans shut off and screen goes off. Drive was never formatted. Brand new. Tried multiple USBs.
