Hard drive dying when gaming

My PC's hard drive died when I was gaming one time. I thought this was normal as a WD green only has a 2 year warranty and mine had lasted 3 years. I replaced the hard drive and the same thing happened, whilst I was changing graphics settings. This hard drive was working again 5 minutes later for no apparent reason. I am now afraid to try gaming for fear of the same issue with less fortunate results. Does anyone know the reason for this and even better the solution.

Solution
Running out of juice from the PSU could harm any component. None of them like getting partial power. This is why blackouts might hurt a couple of computers, brownouts will take lots down with them
I actually have a 750w ACE psu lying around unopened. I'll install that today. Also is it relevant that the computer didn't just power off one time it gave a blue screen error and the other it just froze my game and my mouse could move but when I powered the system back on the drive was dead
