[SOLVED] hard drive error/malfunction

I took the harddrive out of an old laptop of a family members. I get error 0x80070057 whenever i try to install windows. I hear a clicking noise and the sound of a typwriter resetting when I try to do so. Is it a hardware problem with the disk or a software problem? If so, what specifically?

Drive has failed and requires replacement. There is absolutely nothing you can do with this.
