I recently built a pc with a 500gb seagate HDD. The next day I got a message in action center asking to "check disk for errors". I did as asked. After a few days my windows got corrupted and I have to format it again. Upon every fresh install i would get this message and after a few days system files will get corrupted. And I am stuck in this "format and fresh install loop" 🙁
I had run tests using SEATOOLS
Except for the SMART test all other tests failed and its asking me to backup important data.
So my question is, is this hard drive really failing? its just months old.

One more thing.
I have an OEM copy of windows 8.1, will changing hard drives remove windows genuineness?

No it won't, you migt need to make a call to microsoft during the activation though. But you will get a prompt with instructions on what to do after installing.
