Just checking.
I got a Samsung external 5TB USB HDD 2 months ago. This week the blue light stopped, it makes no sound, and it doesn't connect to my computer.
I tried a different power supply. Then I took it out of it's enclosure and connected it to my PC as an internal. Nothing - it's cold and still to the touch.

Is this just bad luck and I should move on?

thanks

If that happened while the drive was in its original enclosure and again after you've connected it externally via a standard SATA connection, then I'd say yes, you should get a new one. It sounds like the PCB of the drive is gone for good.
Hey there, Peter_161.

When it comes to external drives, taking the HDD out of its original enclosure usually voids its warranty. If the drive does not power-up at all, then I'd say that it has probably failed. So you can't hear it spin-up or feel it vibrate at all, when you power up the computer?
