Hard Drive Failure Message in Windows 7

Windows S.M.A.R.T. message saying hard drive failure. ran test, hard drive passed.

Now what?

I ran Toshiba diagnostic and listed results. It said hard drive passed. I ran malwarebyes and it fixed some issues but I was still getting error message about hard drive. I backed up system and bought a new drive. Had an issue with email, had that taken care of. Had a Windows update and now I don't get hard drive failure message.Should I just go ahead and change drive?

i'd keep the new drive since you already got it running. i have had the same type issue and ignored it since the tests came back clean only to have the drive totally die 2 months later once i forgot about it. your data is not really worth the risk of losing for something as cheap as a hdd.

Well, I think that it would be nice if you post a screenshot of the SMART report. You can use some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Apart from that, it's good that you've backed up your data. You should do that even when you are not facing some HDD related issues.
