Hello, I recently got a new computer and in it is an SSD and a Hard Drive. My SSD is perfectly fine and runs like a charm, but my Hard Drive is having some random issues. First, whatever I put in or install to my Hard Drive, it shows up on my desktop. I have tried to look up solutions but always fall short. I also just had an incident, which inspired me to make this thread, where I just installed an new Steam game...and then Steam re-installed itself and EVERY Steam file is on my desktop which is a mess. It also uninstalled all of my Steam games so I have to re-install all of them. Any help is appreciated because frankly, I have no idea what to do. Thanks for your time.

Hi

It would have helped if you said what version of windows
Unusually there is user folder on C:
C:\users\username\..... Desktop

Desktop is a folder and files in this location are seen on windows desktop
Usually only shortcuts are placed there

But some users create a folder and store their data there instead of in My Documents folder

It is possible to move the users 'my documents' to an alternative location such has d: or e:
Look on hard drive for folder named desktop

It seems something is badly corrupted and window may need re installing
Before making any decision run some diagnostics

Run chkdsk on c: (SSD) then
hard drive may need testing using western digital data lifeguard for windows then chkdsk

No point in re installing Windows if hard drive has a physical problem
