Hi
I have a wd hdd 2tb
Whis I splitted 500gb for c and other for storage purposes

Suddenly my c got filled which must have 100gb free space and shows me 0bytes free space

So I tried to delete some files and got 50 gb free space and In an instant it went to 0bytes. I tried to clear the temp files and reduce the size of restore drive. But still no use.
Help would be appreciated

Solution
well, Since we can assume you have tried cleaning temp files, it is a bit of a mystery.
In any case, tried running ccleaner? https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download it can handle clearing most of temp files.

Also, finding out what is taking all that space is likely a good idea. Windirstat http://windirstat.info/ can do that pretty well.
Once you know what files are taking up the space, solutions can likely be applied to the actual problem.

Hi there preetham mvs,

I would agree with little_me, you can use some disk analyzing tool and see what is taking up the space.
One thing that this tool may not detect are the restore points. You can delete all the previous restore points and reduce the space allocated for that: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/5482/make-system-restore-use-less-space-in-windows-7/
Here's a tutorial of some more things you can do in order to free up some space: http://www.howtogeek.com/125923/7-ways-to-free-up-hard-disk-space-on-windows/

I believe it will not hurt to check the drive's health status out with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool(run both short and extended tests): http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=SRbsuf

Hope this will help,

i should have thought to check WD tools last year when I noticed my old 300gb Velociraptor was losing free space. Almost every time i looked at free space, I had less. To fight it I just deleted a partition and added the space to C but that didn't last for long.

I solved that by making a new PC as everything in that pc needed to be retired. I might put it in this pc in a few weeks and try them out.

I dont know what happend , but there was a huge memory used in the App data- Roaming
and the root file using the memory was idm. so i deleted the files and my free space went 0 to 212 Gb.
Can anyone explain what happend here ?
now my free space got up to 212gb

you don't use this by any chance: https://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/ Its such a good program ublock origin won't let me near half the sites that link it.

I only ask as googling IDM comes to it.

might want to scan pc with malwarebytes and your AV,

yes i use that program. any problem with it ?
