I would like to know what the best hard drive for recording and storing gameplay videos is I already have a 1tb hard drive for the OS and programs but when I start making youtube gaming videos I don't want it to all take up space so that is why I decided I need another 2 or 3tb hard drive for the gameplay to be on. Thanks for the help!

That all depends on you, really.
- A HDD can load windows from off, to fully loaded in 50 seconds to a minute usually.
- A SSD can load windows from off to fully loaded in 15-25 seconds.
- When it comes to gaming the only huge difference between HDD's and SSD's are load time.
- When recording; SSD's perform much much better, and in some cases allow you to...
Budget:

Storage: Western Digital Blue 3TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive ($87.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $87.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Best you can get for consumer-platform:

Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($166.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $166.99

You want to avoid Seagate at the 3TB+ sizes, they are notorious for very high failure rates.

Good suggestions from Luminary above, If you're doing a lot of recording i recommend grabbing a smaller SSD to run your OS/recording program on, and use the HDD for file storage of videos - you'll see a huge performance gain with load times, and recording.

What is your budget for upgrades?

My budget for a hard drive is $130 Does hard drive speed mean much?

I was also into recording gameplay footage for League of Legends and I personally notice a huge difference when it came to recording and load speeds. Programs in general have snappier load times.

You could get the best of both worlds with your budget if you like;
- You could buy a 240GB SSD which you could install your OS on, as well as programs for faster load times, then grab yourself another 1TB HDD for extra storage.

This would give you two 1TB HDD's for your video storage and 240GB for OS/programs all for under $130
