Question Hard drive format / unallocated

I had a 1tb external harddrive that I used for my PS4 nearly full with games / but I tried to connect it to my laptop but I couldn't see anything appearing even though it's lighting, I tried to connect it again to PS4 ( Which only supports exfat/ex32) and it says this format isn't supported! , and I tried using a partition tool to change format without loosing data it says "unallocated".

Use a caddy to connect it to a PC or laptop and see what Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management makes of it.

I fear for the data on that disk already.

It was saying 931 gb allocated so I used a partition tool to create a new partition and suddenly there is 931 gb free space .. can A recovery app get my data back ?
