Hello!
At the very end of July i bought a new hard drive Western Digital Black 1TB SATA III since my old one stopped working..
Since then it has been running and it's health is going down. I'm running the operating system on it (windows 7 64-bit). At this moment i'm running a scan for bad sectors and so far it has found 1 bad sector. A few times there were accidents where i hit the pc case with my knee and the computer shuts down (because i'm sitting in a sofa and so...). Can that be the cause of the health going down (random shut downs) ?
So far the HDD's health is 95% and i don't think this is normal... It usually runs at around 35-36 degrees (a few times on 45 degees) but i think that's normal temperatures.
Does anybody know what can be causing this?
(When the sector test ends, i'll post the results)

Hi there vankatabg,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your drive. 🙁
As there are some bad sectors on the drive, you need to back up the data stored on it, contact WD's Support(or the place where you got it from) and just RMA it. :)

Which testing tool have you used? I guess you can test the drive with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool as well: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=Ycg7LX

I'm using Hard Disk Sentinel Pro. Downloaded it today.
Tonight i'll upload all my important information to a cloud and tomorrow i'll probably call the company that sold it to me. And i'll also test the hard drive with the wd's data lifeguard diagnostic tool.

For antivirus program i'm using Avast (i've been planing to go to 360 total security) and yes, i have scanned the hard drive with the antivirus for viruses, no were found.

This is just so funny and awful...currently i'm having another hard drive (my aunt's - i took it for testing) which is a Maxtor 80 GB and has old connecting cables (not SATA), it's like 10 years old, has ran over 1000 days (she doesn't use her pc much) and it's at 100 % health and 92 % performance...and i just ran a scan with avast and it found 60 infected files...and yet this lil guy has more health than mine 0.o

(Sector scan still running, another bad sector was found - total:2)

WD Black is considered to e a premium product with 5 years of limited warranty. Yet, mechanical drives could fail at any time(most of the times there are some signs that the HDD is failing). They could last for 10 years or just fail in a week.
I believe you should have no issues RMAing the drive.

Today i went to the company that sold me the hard drive and told them about the problem with the health. They asked me what program I used to identify the problem. I told them i used Hard Disk Sentinel Pro and they said that's not a program to be used...they told me to try the WesterDigital lifeguard tool (just as you said D_Know_WD - i just didn't have the time to test). So i did. I ran a extended scan and this is what it said.... http://prntscr.com/8hbp8n I tried the "repair" option but it failed saying "trying to fix these sectors will delete the data-Back up!",or something like that. I have already backed up my important infomartion. I tried to find from where to fix them but i wasn't able to. The bad thing about this is i can't find any "health" or "performance" diagrams... The program DID find damaged sectors. Also did HD Tune Pro, here's a link http://prntscr.com/8hdgbv also this programs says warning on health status http://prntscr.com/8hdgtp . And this is what Hard Disk Sentinel Pro says.. http://prntscr.com/8hdhh4 check the green box.

I'm really sorry for this spam, but i dunno what to do. All three programs find bad sectors. Should I take the disk to the company? They'll probably change it without even testing it (if they even agree to change it..) Can I rely on this hard drive?

Thank you in advance!!!

Yeah, I believe you should take it back to the company and get a replacement. These are most probably some physical bad sectors(not logical ones) that can't be repaired and the health of the drive will only deteriorate.
As this is a brand new product, and obviously there is something wrong with it, you should just RMA it.
