Hard drive high pitched noise

since defragging my hard drive on saturday my hard drive has since begun making a high pitched squealing noise when playing games. I also noticed it once when booting up the pc. when windows 7 loaded up the squealing stopped. Does anyone have any idea what this could be. the hard drive is only 5 months old.

Hard drive: Hitachi 1TB 7200rpm

by the way with most games it only really happens when loading up. Dead space does it throughout

Sounds like you're bearings might be going, I would copy off any data you need immediately and consdier getting a new drive.

okay thanks for your help. It just seems strange that it began the day after defragging it with defraggler. Do you think i would be able to replace it for free as its only 5 months old? i bought it from ebuyer
