My hard drive developed bad sectors and I am getting a replacement, can I just unhook the cables from the drive and put them in the new one or should I remove the old cables from the motherboard and use the new ones I get with my new drive?

Both should be fine, but I guess that makes sense.

Are you replacing an ATA-33 drive with a newer ATA-66 drive on a newer mobo? Than maybe it'll be better to use the supplied ATA66 IDE-cables (and use that controller on your mobo for a change !).

If not, why bother (Do not disturb the airflow you created -- ever!)
