Hi guys, I was hoping that someone could help me solve an issue. A new'ish external hard drive (started using it 2 months ago) recently stopped working (no physical damage). It kept crashing one PC and I tried it on another and it would know that there is an external drive attached but can't load anything. I plugged in my external hard drive to my mac and had a similar issue but after letting it sit for 30 minutes or so, I'm able to see my files. I tried transferring the files to my desktop but after a while it crashed and it stops being recognized by my mac (I was able to transfer 14gigs or so).

Does anyone have any recommendations? I have a really important work meeting in a few days and really need these files

Thanks!

Solution
oh also, when I first plug in the harddrive in the mac I'm unable to mount it (gives me an error) but like I mentioned after 20 minutes or so it is able to mount itself
Get as much data off that disk as quick as you can.
It may take repeated attempts and little pieces at a time but work at it.

Assume the disk is getting ready to fail.
