I've noticed the better SSD and SATA drive manufacturers make backup/imaging software available to their customers. Few people I meet seem to know this, however.

Here's an example, Western Digital: https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?lang=en

But as you can see, the functionality is often limited.

What do you think is the best backup/imaging software on the market?

Don't know about the best in absolute terms but for several years I've been using Active@ Disk Image. It has never let me down and has a really intuitive interface -- also includes several other useful utilities.

Not free but I don't mind paying for reliable & easy-to-use software that gets the job done with no fuss.

Have you done image restores to new drives with it? The greatest problem with imaging software is that they fail to restore. The features and interfaces become worthless to the user because when it really matters, the restore feature doesn't work and errors are displayed.

And what's the difference between personal standard and personal professional?

960 GB SanDisk SSD died suddenly. Nothing I could do would bring it back to life.
Oh well...
Put in a new 1TB, click click in Macrium, all 605GB recovered exactly as it was at 4AM that morning when it ran its nighty Incremental image.

I've downloaded and am testing out the Macrium Reflect 7 right now with the PE components. The home version looks good for a consumer.
