Hard drive mounting bracket form factor?

Hey if I buy a 3.5 inch hard drive what form factor does the mounting bracket need to be? I'm just a little confused because about every hard drive mounting bracket I have seen online is a form factor of 2.5 to 3.5 for a ssd. Or can I still use a 2.5 to 3.5 form factor hard drive mounting bracket with a 3.5 hard drive? I have also seen mounting brackets online that are a 3.5 to 5.25 form factor but these don't seem as common as 2.5 to 3.5 form factor mounting brackets for some reason. I bought my pc prebuilt so obviously they didn't give me extra mounting brackets so I have to buy 3rd party mounting brackets. Please help me because I'm a little confused and also send me links to hard drive mounting brackets that will work with a 3.5 form factor hard drive. Thanks.

1. First of all I presume you're working with a desktop PC.

2. If that assumption is correct it sounds inconceivable that you purchased this "pc prebuilt" and it was not equipped with a number of bays to accommodate one or more 3.5" HDDs. I've never come across such a case (unless it was built by some teenager or some "customizer" who did so based upon a user's specialized preference). I'm assuming, of course, that you purchased an ordinary desktop PC.

3. What arrangements were made in the case to accommodate an ordinary 3.5" HDD? Are you indicating it's empty of such bays or perhaps it (the case) was designed to accommodate only 2.5" drives?

4. If this is a commercial case, provide the make/model number if it's known. Is the case equipped with any vacant 5 1/2" external drive bays?

5. And since you purchased this case what does the vendor have to say about it?

What form factor is your case? Almost anything but a small form factor will have extra space for another 3.5" drive. If it's any kind of tower case, I would double check before you purchase something you may not need.
