I have a dell desktop. Recently added another hard drive (120GB). That went
fine. I kept the original 10 GB drive as the boot drive and moved docs and
photos to new drive to make room. However, even with all those files removed
(about 4-5 GB) the old drive shows drive nearing capacity and I keep getting
drive near capacity messages. In file explorer, I cannot see what files are
making up this huge amount shown when I right click on "documents and
settings" under my name. Is something wrong with my computer. Did the
computer not make available the additional space when I moved files to the
new drive?

First - turn off system restore.
See if that frees up space. If so, change the amount of space it is allowed
to utilize.

Second, if you want an easier way to find out what is taking up space (and
you are a VISUAL person) try this:

Do a search for a program called 'Treesize'.. it is a little less confusing
than Shenan's suggestion.. :)
