Hard drive no longer working

Hi I bought a HP laptop and a sea gate hard drive 2 months ago I'm running windows 8 and for a while my hard drive was working but now it's not the blue light comes on and then goes off again and my computer can't find the device??

Hey Sully90. I'd recommend that you try the drive with another computer and another USB cable (not longer than 12"). Do you hear any unusual sounds coming from the drive?
Have checked if the device is recognized anywhere except from Windows Explorer, like Disk Management, Device Manager, BIOS?
I'd also recommend that you download the manufacturer's diagnostic tool and try to test the drive with it.
