Question Hard drive noise

Hello,

if your drive sounds exactly like the one in the video, it is most likely defect. Seagate recommends to save the data of the drive and not use the drive anymore to prevent further damage.

You may contact our Seagate Support to, if still under warranty, exchange the drive.
Make that sound just 1 sec at 2-3 days, i used crystaldiskinfo and SeaTools seagate software and looks ok, i
bought that laptop second hand so i don't have guarantee

Kdragnea, when you ran SeaTools, did you run the long extended test? That test is the one that will provide the best results. (Be aware that this test will take a long time to complete) Also, it is a good idea to have a good backup plan in place as described below.

Basically you want:

3 copies of any data you don't want to lose.
2 different mediums it's stored on (so 2 different drives in your computer, for example).
1 copy kept offsite, to prevent against disaster.

As for the sound on the video, it could be produced by the actuator heads and not necessarily cause a problem. Keep a good backup just in case and monitor the HDD to see if there is any change.
