I have recently built my new computer and installed tow drives, one SSD and one HDD. The HDD is not showing anywhere including disk manager other than in device manager where it is displayed as "other device". Does anyone know how to fix this, any feed back would be great.
Thanks in advance
James

Assign a drive letter in disk management. or change drive letter using this below...

Open Command Prompt. (CMD)
Type: diskpart
At the DISKPART prompt, type: list volume
Make note of the number of the simple volume whose drive letter you want to assign, change, or remove.
At the DISKPART prompt, type: select volume n
Select the volume, where n is the volume's number, whose drive letter you want to assign, change, or remove.
At the DISKPART prompt, type one of the following: assign letter=G
Where G is the drive letter you want to assign or change.

You can make G any letter as long as it is not already assigned to a drive.

Hey there, James!

I'd suggest to re-seat the SATA cables to the HDD, also make sure that the SSD is plugged in the first available SATA port and right next to that one you've plugged the HDD. If that doesn't work, I'd suggest to try using a different SATA cable altogether. If you don't have one simply swap with the one connected to the SSD.
I'd also make sure you have the latest SATA drivers from your motherboard's manufacturer.

Hopefully this will get the drive detected.
Keep me posted! :)

thank you for all the replies. I'm really sorry I just realised that the drive was not showing up in bios, it was my optical drive. I presume the drive is broken then?! If it help the drive is this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004RORMF6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01. Appologies again, and thank you for your support.
