Hi all, having an issue with a brand new HD I bought. Right now Windows 7 will not detect the HD as a drive. It shows up in the BIOS correctly, but not in My Computer. It is in a Frankenstein setup: SATA connection into the SATA port on the MB (it is enabled and showing), with power from an external HD enclosure. I don't think that would affect it though, as it is just drawing power from a different PS.

I did some digging and found it in the System Information under 'discs' instead of 'drives' like my original HD.

This is the HD:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148697&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-

Seagate's website is utterly useless...

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Nm, seems I needed to go into the partition editor and format the drive first. Sorry to take up anyone's time :(
