Hi there. My cousin and I were building his first PC. Over the weekend, we wanted to make sure that all the parts worked. They do. We put them together outside of the case because he did not bring it (he lives 200 miles from me and he was visiting for his birthday). I installed windows 8.1 and it went successfully. I carefully walked him through putting everything into the case and the hard drive is not detected. The case is a thermaltake level 10 gt. The drive is put into the hot swap bays correctly. When he put the windows disc in, it wants him to reinstall windows, like it was never installed before.

Also, I told him to take the drive out and put the cables in and put it on his desk and the PC boots right into windows. Ive seen videos of his case and something is different about it. Ill show you what I mean:

He doesnt have that SATA cable going down the bays. It is just weird why it is doing this. Please let me know any ideas if you have any type of solution. Thank you.

PS: We have put the HDD in several hot swap spots.

If he doesn't have the SATA power cable (if he had it, it would still have to be connected to the PSU), then he needs to connect a SATA power cable and a data cable to the slot where the HDD is installed (a cable that includes both power and data like http://sell.lulusoso.com/selling-leads/127081/12-Inch-SATA-Power-DATA-Extension-Cable-22-pin-Male-to-Female-SATA-Cable.html may be required). If the SATA power cable is missing from a brand new case, then he should contact Thermaltake to get it. A good picture of the cable is available at http://www.anandtech.com/show/4525/thermaltake-level-10-gt-monument-to-excess/2
