Hello! I'm new to the site and I need some help from you guys. I recently built a pc and am trying to install Windows 10 on it.

My main problem is that my hard drive is not being recognized by the UEFI. What's weird is that the hard drive is running but for some reason its not being recognized by the motherboard..

The CDROM however is completely fine and is recognized by the UEFI but when I switch the SATA cables, it doesn't do anything it just remains the same, Hard drive not detected but CDROM is.

The hard drive ports are not broken and neither are the cables so I think it's something really simple i'm missing

If someone is willing to help out that would be great!

Either way, thanks.

My specs are in the link below:

Solution
What happens if you switch to another sata connector at the motherboard ?

What happens if you remove/disconnect the CD-rom ?

Have you checked that the sata cable is properly seated on the hdd?

If nothing works - here is what I suggest you to do further:
  • Update BIOS on the mobo.
  • Check if the hdd works normal on another computer.

Might have gotten a dead refurb drive. But you'd need to verify that somehow.
Nevertheless if it isn't working, it is as good as dead I guess. I can't think of anything you would have done wrong yourself that would make the drive not show up in BIOS. Do you have access to another HDD? From a friend?

TBH IDK. I don't think it's dead though. As mentioned previously the hard drive does run, it's just that it's not being recognized. I'll see if there's anything more I can do but if not I'll think of something

Yeah so it turns out that the HDD is D.E.A.D. I found out by the clicking noise it was making.

(if i could word out the noise it was like: szzzzzzzz..TK. chik. It was doing this the whole time it was running.)

I'll make sure to get a new HDD next time.

Thanks for the help guys!
