I game and have PS4. Use a external Seagate hard drive to store my fortnite account on etc. And now it’s just suddenly stopped working. When I plug it in, it lights up just does this very dull beeping sound (have to put it to your ear to hear it). But just isn’t working at all. I’ve tried plugging it in to different USB ports. Even tried on my laptop it just isn’t showing up when I click on devices. Help!? Please tell me I haven’t lost everything. Could it be the wire? I need help asap.

Solution
It sounds like the heads have landed on the platters rather than in the loading ramp. It could also be that the heads are stuck in the loading ramp, which would then suggest that the ramp is damaged.

"Stiction" happens when two micro-smooth surfaces come into contact. They then stick together. I don't think there is much you can do safely, especially with modern 2.5" HDDs. Nowadays the heads are very flimsy, so manually retracting them risks tearing off the sliders.

now it’s saying on the PS4

cannot format this usb storage device as extended storage. A usb storage device that meets the following conditions must be used : (CE-41902-6)
Usb 3.0 or later
250GB minimum, 8TB maximum capacity
Directly connected to the PS4

I have not changed anything on the hard drive though?
