My computer keeps crashing after my hard drive revs up to 100% in task manager. Typically I just start losing control of one program after another and I cant use esc, or ctrl alt del, or ctrl shift esc to fix it. I eventually get the blue screen of death and cant figure out why. I have reinstalled windows 8.1, kept an eye on my cpu to check for overheating, tested the m.2 drives and multiple applications said that they were healthy, tested the ram for memory issues (about to check it again), popped off the back to check for and clean out dust, and still cannot figure out what is going wrong. This has been going on for over a week and now I'm just getting pissed at my laptop for repeatedly crashing. Someone please help!

It might not be the Hard drive physically, it could be something on the hard drive like a driver or program that is not agreeing with the system.

Check in event viewer:

Windows key + R
Type: eventvwr (enter)
Click: Windows Logs > System (on the left pane)
Click: Filter current log... (on the right pane)
Check boxes: Critical, Warning, and Error >OK
Look at logs when your system crashes and post what appears to have caused it.

Hi there mystero3,

Have you tested the drive with a brand specific testing software? It may be a good idea to do so. Also, as your system is crashing, I would advise you to back up your important data until you sort this issue out.
You can disable some Windows Services like: Windows Search, Superfetch and BITS. Check this thread out: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2027511/windows-disk-usage-100-problem.html

Hope this will help,

Try swapping SATA cables on HDDs or check different SATA ports on your mobo. Sounds like its having trouble detecting the drives on boot. Check them one at a time, to see if it is just one drive affecting things. If it happens on both then it maybe a mobo issue. Are your mobo drivers and BIOS up to date?

the drives are m.2 drives so there are no cables to check and they are in raid 0 so i cant test them individually. The ram is also soldered to the motherboard so I cant check that out either. I just gave up and took it to my university store to work on it
