Hard drive problems

My son deleted all my desktop folders. I want to know how to get them back. They are not in recycling bin. I know they could still be on hard drive.

take it to a shop to get the files recover

I took it to frys electronics and they did not recover anything.

did he delete it or create a new user profile, which would have a new desktop
