hard drive problems

I recently built a gaming pc and its running great except for one thing when I start my pc the hard drive which I save my games to wont boot I have to restart my computer to get it to boot it is extremely annoying ive tried switching data cables and sata cables which did nothing I really want to get this solved please help and thanks

when you start you computer and go in to the bios, does the HDD register?
