When I "finished" building my computer i installed an older 120 gb hard drive to use until i buy one with more capacity. I have two other drives, a 500gb and a 250 gb one, but whenever i plug them in it causes windows to freeze on boot up. I have also tried turning on my computer and installing windows on the 500 gb hard drive but the installer doesn't even detect that there is a hard drive at all.I posted this question elsewhere and looked on google but i couldn't find any answers. I don't even know where to start trying to fix this and i don't want to buy a 1tb hard drive online just to find out i cant use it. Any ideas at all? Thanks in advance

Solution
Try booting from hiren's boot cd and run hdtune to read the drive smart info. See if there any errors. On the mb make sure your using the intel Sata ports.
