Hard Drive Question

So i'm getting ready to buy a new processor and mobo. everything else will be compatible but i have a question. The HDD i'm using now is a SATA 2 3GB/s and the motherboard i'm getting now has 6x SATA 6GB/s will it still work on the new MOBO or do i need to look for something else?

The old drive will work on a SATA III motherboard, don't worry about it. You won't have the speed of the SATA III, but will still be able to access all you data.

It will work but it won't be as fast as Sata 6gb/s. I would find a 6gb/s HDD or get a SSD and use your old HDD as a storage drive.

Get SSD. Do not use your OS/Apps/Games on a mechanical drive.

Hard drive speeds are not significantly impacted by sata 2/3. The mechanical data transfer is much slower than either.
The only time sata 3 is of any value is in hard drive buffer to sata transfers. That time is relatively unimportant.
