Hello Everyone,

I'm hoping that someone will have a suggestion as I can't seem to find anything online to help. I will try to be clear in posting what I have already tried and what errors/messages I have received.

I have a Samsung Story 2TB hard drive and a Noontec media player. I am unable to connect the hard drive to the computer to make changes to the files on the hard drive however the media player will allow me to view and play all files.

When I connect it to the computer (Windows 10 now but has been doing it since Windows 7) it tells me that the parameters are incorrect for the drive. I have tried partitioning software that is supposed to sort out if the drive is unallocated, etc but the drive is not unallocated. I have tried the M3 data recovery program to try to fix and restore the drive without loss of data - I have ran the program 5 times and each time it is unsuccessful!

I'm hoping that someone here will have a program that will actually work rather than trying by trial and error all the different programs that are out there!

Any advice appreciated... thank you!

I do not want to format the drive and delete all data as it has a large number of photos and videos on there.

I don't know what your M3 program has done to the disk. Plug it back to your media player, and confirm that all the media files are here, intact.

And - have a glass of cold water around you, to drink, in case you've lost everyting as a result of "recovering".

Last but not least - give this drive to someone who knows Linux.
Most (if not all) media players are based on Linux, and there is a good chance your hard drive is formated with Linux file system (usually, EXT3). Windows does not support these file systems.

There are Windows apps which let you access Linux-formatted media. I have used this in the past.

Thank you for your suggestion... I downloaded the program and when I open it it shows me information on the drive... however if I try to open the drive I still receive an error and it keeps asking me to format it... I really hope that trying the M3 data recovery program hasn't ruined my chances of sorting this out! Cause where it used to say Fat32 now it says RAW?? I'll try to attach pics if possible...

I'm sure there is an easier way to do this but I couldn't figure it out!! Here is the link to pics: https://www.flickr.com/photos/130430606@N03/with/25599546103/
