Hard drive recovery

What do I need to get pics and videos off of a hard drive that is bad.
Do I need to get a hard drive cloening docking station device ? ( 2 internal hard drives sit side by side )
Any input would be great.

A USB SATA dock might be helpful. Doesn't have to be a special clone thing with space for 2 drives.

But...getting stuff from this drive depends on what is wrong with it.
