A couple of issue.
1. I've used up all of my motherboard sata ports (6 in total), but would like to add another drive using an inexpensive method. I stumbled upon this sata controller card http://www.amazon.co.uk/CSL-PCI-Express-Controller-interface-internal/dp/B00UVJI3IQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1438982075&sr=8-2&keywords=sata+controller+card is it any good to run a hard drive from and what speeds can I expect?
2. My system currently has one 120gb samsung evo 840 ssd (looking to add one 250gb samsung 850 evo ssd), four 4tb wd green drives and one 1tb wd blue drive. Of the hard drives in my system, I tell them to power down after 5 minutes of no use.
Looking through the stats I have the following on Load Cycle Counts
Drive 1 - 562 days old, 23047 LCC, av 41 LCC per day
Drive 2 - 449 days old, 6289 LCC, av 14 LCC per day
Drive 3 - 196 days old, 3181 LCC, av 16 LCC per day
Drive 4 - 196 days old, 2317 LCC, av 12 LCC per day
Drive 5 - 49 days old, 806 LCC, av 16 LCC per day
What do make of these figures, considering I get the drives to power down if idle for 5 minutes. Should I be worried about the LCC and waht else should I look out for?
What are acceptable hard drive temps when in use?
Thanks.
