hard drive repartitioned itself

C drive re-partitioned itself while I was using computer, I had an android tablet plugged into a usb port. don't know it that had anything to do with it. The drive is new, 1 Terra byte was partition with 100 meg/800 gig as c and the rest was recovery, was changed down to 118 gig C, 100 megs for and with 450 megs for recovery and the rest was un-partitioned.

What is the operating system, and the make and model of the hard drive? And which software were you using at time of the problem?

I was trying to help a friend out, by asking questions. I know Don, he must be away from PC. He has Win10, 2TB Seagate on i7 PC and was using video editing (PowerDirector) when this issue happened.

That is really unpleasant.

My suggestion would be to use some data/partition recovery software.

Keep in mind that you shouldn't overwrite the data stored on your drive.
