Hard Drive Space Issue! Need Help!

Hey Guys,

I am having hard drive space issue. As you can see in the screenshot below my C drives showing only 2.54 GB space available. On the other hand when i take properties of all the files and folder on C drive it shows used space of 39.3 GB and also taking the effect of virtual memory set to 2 GB as as also shown in the scree shot i should have about 9 GB of space free.

Need help with this issue.

disabling hibernate or even system restore can save you additional space.

I have already disabled system restore. How can i disable hibernate ?

run cmd as admin and type powercfg –h off . it will take effect after reboot.

well with only 6gb of ram i wouldnt feel confident disabling it.! would be better if you just move it to another physical disk.

There may be some hidden files not included in the 39.3GB reported. Download and run WinDirStat. It will give you a visual indication of everything on the drive, including pagefile and hibernate file.

Another question, it maybe off the topic but as you can also see that i have currently installed about 10 games and i wanted to know if, even though i have installed the game in a driver other than C drive, does the games installation also take up some space in c drive ?

also reedo_43 please tell me how to disable page file ? and what are the pros and cons for disabling it ?

some games may create folder(s) for saves or profile settings along side with registry input values on OS drive (on documents usually) , so the higher the game progress the more space it will acquire!

page file works as ram replacement (substitute) , so having it disabled windows will crash when you will run out of ram. the higher amounts of ram you have the slimer the chances are to ran out of memory. as i said, 6gb is kind of low in order to disable page file completely. if you wish to save up even more space from your c drive , just move it to another drive.
