hard drive space keeps going up??

i got on my pc today and i had 504gb. i checked like an hour later and had 586. now i checked again and i have 599. whats happening???

Sounds like a virus. If you can do a boot scan I highly suggest one and then run malwarebytes.

Its a scan that the anti virus restarts your pc and before windows can start it checks everything. Once the OS starts some virus have ways of avoiding detection. Avast has a boot scan as well as many others.

yeah just downloaded the stuff i needed for it it was taking like an extremely long time so im gnna do it when i go to bed. gtta figure this out cause i just upgraded to windows 8 and it deleted basically everything so im really wondering what it could be

If you didn't set it to auto delete virus then I guess you didn't have any. Try the malwarebytes.

it was set to when a threat is found "fix automatically" instead of delete. idk all good ill try it again. malwarebytes never finds anything except a setup file for another web browser i was trying. my space isnt really changing anymore idk what it is ill keep trying stuff though
