[SOLVED] Hard drive spinning excessively

My hard drive a couple of days just started spinning really loudly and it does it randomly, want to ask whether this is normal behavior for a drive that's about 2 years old? The thing is its just spins for a bit then stops then returns after some random time so this really odd for me.

Are you sure it's the drive you are hearing, vice perhaps the CPU fan?

Even if it is the drive (most spinning drives emit large scratching/chugging sorts of sounds during a bout of intensive reads/writes), WIndows often does quite a bit of housekeeping tasks in the background, file indexing, downloading WIndows updates (the 2nd Tue of the month update should be pushed out abotu now for many folks)....

A quick look at CrystalDiskInfo output on that drive should let you know if there are any issues in Smart status, etc...
