Hard drive stuff

I recently found a virgin TiVo box in my attic and I managed to salvage the 1tb Seagate pipeline hd 2 hard drive and I was wondering if I could put it in my pc. But I can't remember what went wrong with the TiVo so would it damage my pc ?
I already have a 500gb hard drive what should I do ?

If the hard drive is working then yes you can. Once you have it installed go to disk management in windows and format the hard drive from there to avoid any problems.

Drive just needs to be formatted as NTFS which you can do in disk management. Naturally you will loose any TV shows saved to the drive when you format it.

What if it doesn't work will I damage my pc ?

No hooking up the drive will not damage your PC.
Just make sure you power off the PC before installing it, ground yourself if your pc is in room with plush carpet (just touch side of pc case a couple of times).
