Just brought a new WD 14TB hdd, installed it and then my 4TB WD black decided to stop working. When I open windows hdd partition it says can't initialize due to i/o error.
Things I have tried:
  1. Unplugged and plugged back in
  2. Swapped to known good sata power and data cables(3 different ones) Those other drives using the exact same cables are working.
  3. Removed drive and placed into external enclosure, drive boots up and PC sees it. Ran the windows drive scanner, no problems. No data is missing.
Mobo is Asus ROG Strix Z690-A, if that matters. Runnings windows 11. Was working right before I turned PC off to install drive.

Any ideas? Is the drive jealous it has less space or something? Every single game is on the drive, would love to fix this.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition?

Disk drives: make, model, capacity, how full?

Which drive is the boot drive?

Open the Disk Management window. Expand to show all drives and volume information.
