Hard Drive transfer

I have a HP g6-2248wm the computer is completely trashed won't even turn on.. but I need everything in it all my artwork. Music. Etc... my question is if I buy an HP g6-1b39wm can I take my hardrive and just put it in there? Are the specs different? Or do I need to buy another HP g6-2248wm computer completely in order to swap hard drives?

I need a new laptp either way just wondering what will work so I can keep my hard drive just swap it out

Completely unnecessary. The HD, ASSUMING it's not damaged, can be read by ANY other PC.

I would just use an external usb to SATA adapter and you can use the old drive as an external. I use this and it works great on LAPTOP drives and SSDs. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812400542 < only posting this because I have one and it works great for me!!

Hi there VALOVE,

In case you want to attach the drive as a secondary one(storage drive), you should have no issues with that. In case you want to attach it and boot from it though, you may get a BSOD.

You can just get a SATA pot USB adapter as tlhudson69 suggested and back up all the data stored on the drive. After that, you can reformat it and use it as an external one.
