Hello,
I have WD1200JB-00DUA1 hard drive from Western Digital. It is 120GB, 7200RPM and 8MB Cache. The problem is very slow system boot-up. When Linux kernel is booting ("Loading VMLINUZ ...." appears), every dot appears after 1 - 2 seconds. I tried to install the same OS in the same computer on "WD1200JB-00CRA0" hard drive and the same process (whole) takes less than 1 second (0,1 - 0,2s). The problem appears with Windows 2000 too - white bar on the bottom of the screen moves very slowly, much slower than with "-00CRA0" hard drive.
I tried to locate test partitions on different places on the disk, but without result - I think it is not a defect on magnetic surface, it may be a bug in firmware or some defect in electronics.
If anybody experienced the same problem, please let me know. If You are owner of "WD1200JB-00DUA1" and your disk works normally (quickly), send me e-mail too. It is possible my hard disk is simply damaged.
With Regards
Paul
