Rather unfortunate situation I believe, but not uncommon! I'd suggest you to first make sure that you have all your SATA ports enabled in the BIOS and maybe try swapping the SATA mode there (from IDE to AHCI, SATA or vice versa). I'd also check the cable connections to the drive and try with a different one or even change the SATA port that the drive is plugged into, see if that will get your drive to show up in Disk Management.
