Hi all,

My hard driver has failed and I have recorded the sound its making. I can't decipher whether its a clicking, buzzing, beeping etc.

I'm hoping its the sound of a stuck read head, but I can't be certain. What does the expert ears of this amazing community think.

Its a Seagate 3.5 Hard drive.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the common 1TB 7200.12 head crash we see about 95% of the time with those drives. What is the full model of drive...not that it matters. Just curious if I'm correct in identifying the drive.

Hi macavelly,

unfortunately we have to agree - this does not sound too good... 🙁
Hopefully you did back up your data and there will be no need to recover anything!?

You do not mention how old your drive is or if there might be any remaining warranty. If you would like to check it, please go HERE and we will try to assist you in the best possible manner!

In case you need any assistance with data recovery, please let us know as well!
