Hard drives behind fan

I'm looking at a coolermaster 343/344 or the Silverstone ps12 which all are small sized cases that can accommodate four 3.5'' drives.

What I've noticed is the drives will all occupy the area directly behind of the front 120mm fan which means air sucked into the front vent will go through the drives which generate a lot of heat, dispersing hot air through the rest of the inside of the case. I guess it's good for keeping the drives from heating up too much but air going into the rest of the case meant to cool it, would be coming in heated from the drives.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not, I don't have any other options for cases like this that will fit on my desk withtout taking up too much space.
With this type config with all the drives behind the fan, I was also wondering if a slightly larger space would be better than a smaller size case or if it makes a difference at all. All three are similar width and height, the silverstone is 4cm shorter.


One other thing with regard to hard drive positioning, the cooler master allows for a bit of spacing in between the individual drives placed together within the hdd cage, while the silverstone hdd cage has them bunched together in two's, meaning two drives are right next to each other vertically, then there is a bit of a space between the next two drives which are right next to each other (pic in link). It would seem to me a better idea for some spacing between individual drives that generate heat.

At @23°C ambient, at idle, most systems will see a cpu at 30-35°C, SSDs @24-28°C (sitting behind intake fans) and hdds seeing 30-35°C. Under gaming conditions with intakes running fasrer/more cfm cpus will reach 55-70°C, gpus 60-80°C, SSDs 30-35°C and hdds 35-40°C. Either way, the SSDs and hdds won't impact case temps in the slightest, anymore than a cigarette lighter will heat up a bathroom before or after a hot shower.
99% of cases have a similar layout where the HDD's sit behind the front intake fan, you're being a bit anal.

Even if you have a 10,000rpm HDD that reaches 45° C at load, everything else in your case is going to be hotter anyway.
