Hard drives failure

Got an WD hard drive, it reads sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes its show up but it lightly show the hard drives. Can't read it or access it.
I don't care about the hard drive, cared about the data.
Can't replace the data pictures of my kids.
Anyone know any type of program to get my information off?

before you run it put the failing drive in a known good working pc or have a new drive and os installed and ready to copy files that can be recovered.

Thing is when I try to back up some info say not responding, or sometime freeze my systems

Hard drive failure is the most common issue on computers. thats why is recommended to always have a backup.. anyways, you can try cloning your drive sector by sector using a tool like ddrescue. this will clone the damage drive to another drive. http://www.gnu.org/software/ddrescue/ddrescue.html
