Hard Drives not detected

My computer doesn't detect any internal hard drives connected with SATA, I've tried 2 different cables, 2 different hard drives, one of which was tested and worked on my friends pc. My pc sees USB devices and stuff like that but not internal hard drives. I've tried different SATA ports in my motherboard

If you open the disk manager, can you see them? (Start key + R, then type in diskmgmt.msc and press OK)

This is usually because they have no drive letter assigned, but you have to make sure windows sees them first.
