Hi all,

Have just upgraded my motherboard from a asrock 880g extreme three to a gigabyte GA-970a-D3P and added a new AMD fx-8320. After the install the board picks up my primary drive perfectly and I can happily boot into windows, however my two back up drives are not detected in bios or windows. The drive were working fine to the mobo being swapped out.

I can feel the drives vibrating, and have checked connections are attached.

Primary drive is Seagate Barracuda 1tb
Secondaries are WD Cavier 500gbAAKS and WD 160 Cavier

Just going to head to WD site to see if there is detection software, but any other ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks Yoplait, bios is set to Legacy, I read that changing it to AHCI can cause problems with windows? Cables all plugged in, I have the primary drive connected to sata 0, second and third drives to 1 and 2, then cd to 3. Bios is up to date.

Will try changing to AHCI.

Changed "Onchip SATA type" from Native IDE to AHCI,

and Onchip Sata Port 4/5 Type from "IDE" to "As Sata Type" under all premutations windows would not go past the welcome screen, and reset.

OH I FORGOT TO MENTION! If the first set is set to IDE the second set can only be set to IDE as well.. For there to be one ide it has to be in the second set.

In the bios you can only adjust "Onchip Sata Port 4/5" (ie it appears on the menu) if Onchip sata type is set to AHCI.

Will try Onchip sata type: AHCI and Onchip Sata Port 4/5: IDE but I think I tried this previously and it crashed.

Hi Yoplait, hds all 1tb or under, not sure how to select all as SATA there is only native ide or achi is this in a different part of bios?
